About the book

The purpose of the series ‘Advances in Soviet Science and Technology’, as its name implies, is to introduce the foreign reader to recent accomplishments by Soviet scientists. This volume summarizes major achievements in Soviet organometallic chemistry.

Most of the research presented here was conducted in the chemistry department of Moscow University and at the Nesmeyanov Institute of Organo-Element Compounds of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

These two Soviet institutions have been at the forefront of organometallic chemistry research for over twenty five years. Findings from work at three other important Soviet centres of organometallic chemistry research-in Gorky, Irkutsk, and Ufa-are also presented here.
