About the book

This is a collection of ten review papers devotes to basic problems of modern solid state physics. All the papers presented in this book have been written by Soviet scientists from different institutes of the Academy of sciences of the USSR and of Soviet republics, and contain the results of investigations carried out during the last few years. Further developments in these directions in the years to come will undoubtedly help in solving some important scientific technological problems. Because of the lack of space, we were not able to cover all the aspects of modern solid state physics, and had to select just a few of these. We hope to make up for this deficiency in near future.
